Where city style meets suburban convenience, The Edge brings together the best of both worlds for modern apartment living in Bethesda, Maryland. Redefine an elevated lifestyle at The Edge with unparalleled amenities in sophisticated spaces, just steps away from premier shopping, excellent dining, and easy trips into the heart of D.C.
The Edgemont project will transform the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Edgemoor Lane through the development and construction of a new 15 story, 154 unit multi-family property. Incorporated into the building is an exciting glass and metal panel facade that will match the curve of Woodmont Avenue and tie the building to its surroundings. The project will also create a new public green space along Edgemoor Lane, providing a new neighborhood amenity and greatly improved streetscape experience.
Roofing along with Mechanical Equipment installation is ongoing up at the roof levels of the building.
Exterior sheathing and weather barrier continues to be installed along all building elevations and can easily be identified by the purple and blue colors. Windows are being installed on the 15th floor and will be starting at the roof level over the next two weeks. Metal panel installation, the white accent bands, is ongoing along the South and East building elevations. Masonry work is mostly complete at the South and East elevations, and work is ongoing along the West elevation.
Unit framing, along with mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in is well underway inside the building. This work will continue to progress as windows go in and the building becomes better sealed from the weather. Drywall installation is up to level nine with finishes following up behind.
Construction has started at the pocket park that is being provided in front of 4903 Edgemoor Ln. This park will be an outdoor amenity to the neighborhood, providing seating and tables amongst new green areas and a bike/scooter share location.
COVID-19: At this time the project remains open and is following the guidance provided by State and Local Public Health officials. Should anything new occur regarding direction from Federal, State or Local officials in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will keep you informed on how it will affect the project. In an effort to practice social distancing to the extent possible, work hours onsite will extend from 7am to 7pm.
Current and upcoming activities include the following:
It is reasonable to expect some noise with all the large equipment and truck activity throughout these phases, but we will work to minimize the impact as best we can. Construction activities will abide by Montgomery County’s requirements for schedule and noise.
Through multiple coordination meetings with MCDOT and Bethesda Urban Partnership, we have developed a plan that provides pedestrian access around the project site. In order to accomplish this and allow for safe construction deliveries, the project will utilize the curb lane along the west side of Woodmont Avenue and the curb and one drive lane on the north side of Edgemoor Lane. The roadways around the project will receive new construction signage and temporary striping to direct traffic accordingly. During the early stages of the project there will be periodic daytime sidewalk closures necessary for new utility crossings. The pedestrian path of travel along Woodmont has been shifted off of the sidewalk and along the concrete barriers that run down the curb lane, this configuration will remain in place for the majority of the project.
